Chapter 5: The Sootscales

Deep within the Stolen Lands, an ancient abandoned mine has been claimed by the Sootscale kobold tribe. The once relatively peaceful, albeit territorial, tribe has recently fallen under the dark influence of Tartuk, a manipulative and twisted sorcerer masquerading as a powerful shaman. By presenting a stolen devil-shaped statuette as a divine relic, he has plunged the tribe into blood sacrifices and paranoia.

As the adventurers approach the muddy banks of the Shrike River and uncover the hidden, eroded entrance to the Oaktop Mine, they must navigate a claustrophobic labyrinth filled with deadly pit traps, tight root-choked tunnels, and desperate kobold guards. The party must uncover Tartuk's deception in his mystic quarters and decide the fate of Chief Sootscale and his subjugated tribe.
